How good it feels to finally be able to talk about what I’ve been up to!
Since October 2014, I’ve been coaching the team that is responsible for Spotify Running, the latest feature that matches the music’s beat to your running pace. In the beginning, our team was dubbed an “Innovation Squad”, tasked with finding the ideal running experience for Spotify’s runners. Our primary measure of progress was learning what to build.
My goal was to coach the team to work in a lean startup kind of way, to test our assumptions quickly & cheaply with end users, in order to discover what the ideal running experience is for runners. We used principles and practices from the Lean Startup, Lean UX, Google Ventures Design Sprints and the Lean Canvas.
Once we had a certain degree of confidence in our ideas, we shifted focus to delivering on this experience and we were subsequently able to launch our feature as part of Spotify’s #NewSpotify launch. I’m immensely proud of what we have built so far and the response from our users.
